How to host, and join private match lobbies Rocket League

To create a private match

See notes at bottom for match # and which team hosts or check out our tournament proceedings post

  1. Select play from the main menu
  2. Select private match
  3. Make sure you use the default settings except for Arena which needs to be “Champions field (day)”. then hit create match.
  4. Set your lobby name and password. Name and password should be hselmatch# (all lower case and the # should be replaced with your match number as shown in the brackets).
  5. Once you are in the lobby make sure to WAIT for all players to join the lobby before joining a team. The team on top of the bracket should join blue team. DO NOT JOIN UNLESS ALL TEAM AND OPPONENTS ARE IN THIS SCREEN. You can tell who is in by the lobby denoted under spectating number (names will be listed as well). E.g. in the below images there are two people in the lobby (Kotori and Maraudaur).
  6. Once all players are in join the blue or orange team and once all players join a team the match will start.

 

How to join a private match

  1. Select play from the main menu

  3. Select join private match using the relevant name and password
    Remember teams on the bottom of the bracket should be joining private matches and will be orange team
    Remember the naming convention is hselmatch# (all lower case and number should be replaced with your match number, see notes below for match number)
    Remember password is hsel (all lower case)
  4. Once you are in the lobby make sure to WAIT for all players to join the lobby before joining a team. The team on top of the bracket should join blue team. DO NOT JOIN UNLESS ALL TEAM AND OPPONENTS ARE IN THIS SCREEN. You can tell who is in by the lobby denoted under spectating number (names will be listed as well).
