The High School Esports League’s inaugural Rocket League tournament was won by South Australian school Unley High School at the live LAN final at Hybrid World Adelaide on Sunday.
Unley defeated New South Wales school Peel High in a nail-biting 3-2 final to cap off a brilliant event. Earlier in the day, Kiama High School and St Michael’s College were knocked out by the grand finalists in the semi’s, but both semi-finals were entertaining affairs. Gaming influencers Muselk and Bajo provided a lot of joy for fans at the event, with their Q&A, 1v1 competition and a signing session to wrap up the day.

Unley’s delusion, Joshortex and Beanfarmer played against Azora, horizonz and ozyjock from Peel in the grand final. The three participants from Unley were stoked to come away with the win and enjoyed being part of the final.
“It felt awesome to play on stage again and represent the school,” delusion said.
“Winning the event was a massive relief and I can’t wait for the next one.”
Joshortex agreed, “it was really awesome to have played in a LAN competitively with a great atmosphere,” he said.
“It was somewhat nerve-racking at first, but I quickly eased into it and started having loads of fun.”
Beanfarmer praised the organisation of the event.
“The event was arranged well, there were good set ups for both the players and the teams that were warming up,” Beanfarmer said.
“It was nice to be closely matched in the finals against a team that was our age as well.”
Thanks must be given to Northern Adelaide Senior College and their students who ran a flawless production that made our stage come alive, and to Hybrid World Adelaide for the wonderful opportunity to host our final live at their event.
